SF Munchkin Fun Run turns us into Tourists!!

Todd and I are so proud of Maisy and Maren for participating in the SF Munchkin Fun Run as a part of the SF Marathon!  The girls ran the 1/2 mile.  We came in last place, but at least we placed!

Toward the end I had to carry Maren, so the clown/unicyclist who was bringing up the rear offered to push the stroller, so I could focus on just carrying and running with Maren without also pushing a stroller.

Thank you!!!!

We were so thrilled to finish!! (okay, maybe I was so thrilled to finish).  After we completed our race, we went over to watch the finish of the SF Marathon and met one of Todd's co-workers who had just crossed the finish line!  The girls were very interested in the whole event.  We then decided to stay in the city and be tourists!  We started out with lunch at the Ferry Building eating lunch looking over the bay, just as the sun emerged!

We started our long walk to Pier 39 when Todd spotted the bike cab who offered to take us and our very large stroller the rest of the way for a small fee (well worth it!). It was a super fun ride and something none of us had ever done!  We walked around, watched them make bread at Boudin's and played at the Musee Mecanique.  Maisy, Todd and I all LOVED it.  We had so much fun on only $5!!  Maren was napping, she loved that too.

Maisy rode a horse.

We decided to sweeten it up a bit and stopped into a mega sweet shop.

Todd found a suitable candy.

And I found a suitable shirt! ha ha

We then stumbled upon a great little hidden gem of a museum, the National Maritime Museum inside of the Argonaut Hotel. The girls loved it and so did we! It was free and done wonderfully.

"Watching" a panoramic video of the history of the bay and San Francisco.

We continued down the road up into Ghirardelli Plaza.  We scoped some toy stores and shops, then headed for the main event of ice cream!

The girls (and Todd- okay and me too) were super happy.  From there we headed across the way to the ships in the bay on the Hyde St. Pier. Unfortunately we arrived too late to properly tour all the ships, but we walked the pier and vowed to return!  Maisy was very bummed we couldn't go aboard!

We are amazed at how much we did!  We are thrilled with the memories we created in our own backyard and can't wait to be tourists again in our very own bay area.  Todd and I both agreed this is one of the best days we've had as a family.  These are the things memories are made of.
