I decided after we returned from camping that I needed another challenge. Potty training!
I potty trained Maisy around Maren's age and we cloth diaper and I do the laundry and I'm really really OVER diapers, so I decided to give it a go.
Lots of folks may not like my method. It involves lots of sugar, but it's short lived and it worked! We are on day 3 and we have not had one accident on day 3 yet! (We had 3 accidents both day 1 and day 2).
So it all started by talking up the potty, reading potty books, having a baby doll with a potty, making the baby pee, getting super excited and picking out panties that used to be sisters. (Poor second kids get all the hand-me-downs!)
On Monday morning, I took off Maren's diaper, put her on the potty and put her in panties. I knew we were in for a long day! We spent all day at home. I wore an apron with Peanut M&Ms in the pocket to reward a pee pee in the potty instantly. Maisy was right at my side cheering Maren on and encouraging her to go and getting super excited, because success for Maren also meant and M&M for Maisy.
I then pushed the juice. Lots and lots of juice to produce many chances to practice potty. It was much harder to get her to drink than I thought, so I made sure to give her lots of dry, salty snacks. Which made her thirsty! I took her potty starting at 20 minutes. Then if no pee, it would go down to every 5 minutes until success, then back to 20. We did this for two whole days... Those were really long days. At the end of the second day, we actually went out to dinner and she stayed dry. We did bring her potty and she did go out to the parking lot for a potty break during dinner, which was successful.
Today we went about our normal business, with the potty, just in case, which I made her try out a few times with no success, but with no accidents either. She now will pee on command at home, if she does actually have to go.
Maisy had a doctor's appointment and we got a car wash and still we are accident free today! She has even started to tell me when she has to go. I stopped pushing the juices today and I am just checking in with potty questions every 30 minutes to make sure she's mindful of it and making her try according to when I think she probably should have to go. I'm now strating to phase out the M&Ms. Hopefully we'll be down to 2 diapers a day, then none, very soon!
So that brings me to Maisy's well 4 year old check up! She's doing very well.
They think she'll be an inch or two taller than I am and she doesn't have to get any shots until next year! She was worried about that because Todd and I were talking and I said to him, "I'm not sure if she needs S-H-O-T-S this time or not." Maisy said, "What, I'm going to get a shot!?" So, I guess she can kinda spell...
My smart cookie is now 40 inches tall and weighs 34 pounds.

Next big news is hopefully when we find out we are getting our new puppy! We are awaiting the news that we can bring home our lovely Australian Labradoodle. More on that as we find out!
