Turn Cardboard Boxes Into Castles

Turn cardboard boxes into castles.

Every week I end up with about five of these pretty heavy duty large cardboard boxes from my weekly Farmigo fundraiser I do with the school. I try to reuse them if I can, but sometimes, they just end up soggy and wet from the rain. Today, I saved four of them and decided to surprise the girls each with their own castle to decorate however they like. This was a super special treat. I feel I’ve been so bogged down with elementary school volunteering, kid swapping, actually working for money and spending time on home/life, that I haven’t done much “extra” stuff (nothing really blog worthy, as you may have noticed) in an effort to keep my sanity by letting something go.

This activity was, however, a huge sanity saver. After I taped the boxes with packing tape (open top to open top), cut out the doors and windows it was all peace and calm and creativity here for a bit over an hour.  A nice return on my efforts.  I look forward to creating new and equally interesting box building in the months to come.  Do you have any great tips on what to do with cardboard boxes?  I’ve got plenty of boxes!

I'm a part-time work from home, full time stay at home mom to two daughters and an Australian Labradoodle puppy. We are enjoying our last year before big girl school, playing with friends, swapping childcare to get the job done and getting crafty when we can fit it in. We live together in a wonderful community that we are truly thankful for and proud to be a part of. It takes a village and this is ours.
