Over winter break we played our fair share of Mad Libs. It got me thinking we could do the same thing with our kindergarten sight words. Maisy is quickly picking up the art of reading and writing, so this seemed like a natural and fun way to encourage learning sight words, reading and fun! I wrote a few mad lib “stories” and made lists of site word nouns, verbs and adjectives that could be used to fill in the sight words mad lib list. (Click on the highlighted links above to download the Word documents). I gave her the sight words mad libs list to fill in with her nouns, verbs and adjectives list. We then read the completed mad lib stories together. She enjoyed doing her word searches, writing and reading the stories with her own personal touches. Big plus, she's learning what nouns, verbs and adjectives are! She was proud of herself and giggled quite a bit. When we finished, she wanted to do it again. Here’s to encouraging reading, writing and creativity!
