Drive Thru Tree- Our VW Minivan Fit!

We drove thru a tree over 2,400 years old.  Can you imagine, a wee little sapling 2.400 years ago?

Well, I had a totally different post planned today, but instead I’m going to post about our trip to Legget, CA to the Drive-Thru Tree in honor of our poor car that was stolen last night.  Hopefully this will put good car karma out in the universe and it will find its way home to us (totally undamaged- right?!).

The Drive-Thru Tree, named the Chandelier Tree, is a pretty cool pit stop if you happen to be up in Northern California. Luckily, it was only a few miles away from Big Bend Lodge, where we were camping a few weeks back and we took this fun side trip.  Heads up, it’s $5 entrance fee- cash only. Thankfully we were with friends who floated us a little loan since we pretty much never carry cash.

Driving the car thru the trunk was all fun and games at first, then the fit got really tight. I started feeling really hot, and a bit nervous and kinda sweaty. With fantastic guidance (Todd was out of the car gesturing wildly) we made it though without a scratch or a splinter and I could breathe again! It was a pretty fun accomplishment. The girls thought it was amazing!

After our cruise thru the tree, we parked and walked around a bit.  The kids played in huge hollowed out tree trunks and collected yellow flowers by the lake.  It was so sweet to see them flower picking for at least a half hour.  However, beware of bees!

I'm a part-time work from home, full time stay at home mom to two daughters and an Australian Labradoodle puppy. We are enjoying our last year before big girl school, playing with friends, swapping childcare to get the job done and getting crafty when we can fit it in. We live together in a wonderful community that we are truly thankful for and proud to be a part of. It takes a village and this is ours.
