A Thank You Preschool Art/Photo Yearbook for Teachers (and Students)

Those who have been reading my blog for a while know about my photo book addiction. The time came for Maisy to graduate preschool, where she’s been with the same teachers and the same kids for two years. The teachers who took my 2 and a half year old baby and guided her into being a thoughtful, kind, creative and clever girl, now get to see her mature into a Kindergartener and get to welcome my youngest into their program.

When brainstorming about teachers’ gifts for the end of the year, the thought came to me to have each child in the class submit a piece of art that represents School to them; a picture of a friend, a favorite activity, a special memory or note. I shared the idea with the parents and they were excited to participate. Another parent added the idea of photographs of the children and their families. A week later I had the submitted artwork and/or photos.  I had the parents either scan their artwork and email it to me as a .jpg or I scanned the art. The artwork was all so sweet, creative and varied. I loved all of the different talents, interests and styles the children had. I created the photo book through Shutterfly.

There were some kids that I didn’t receive art, nor a picture from, so I went to school and snapped photos of as many kiddos who were missing submissions as possible and added just their photo as their entry. In the end, I think only a couple of kids didn’t make the school art/photo/yearbook.

I’m so excited for the kids to hand this over to the teachers. I welled up just reading the forwarding note to the teachers at the beginning of the book and I know several families purchased one for themselves to keep.

So there you have it, another idea for an amazing way to capture your story and spread the love. Do you have any other wonderful ways to commemorate your children’s time in preschool or other wonderful teacher appreciation ideas? Please share in comments.

I'm a part-time work from home, full time stay at home mom to two daughters and an Australian Labradoodle puppy. We are enjoying our last year before big girl school, playing with friends, swapping childcare to get the job done and getting crafty when we can fit it in. We live together in a wonderful community that we are truly thankful for and proud to be a part of. It takes a village and this is ours.
