Happy Mother’s Day to one of my very best friends, my Mom. Thanks for making me, and for making me feel confident and strong. Thank you for teaching me how to love and be fun and HAVE fun. You’re one of my favorites.
I’d like to say thank you to all the Moms who help inspire and encourage me on this journey through Motherhood. I’ve learned so much and appreciate all the mothers in my life. Here are some bits of awesome I’ve learned:
The art of thank you notes which instills gratitude in me and shows my appreciation. I was never a fan of the thank you note, but I was taught It was a nice thing to do by my thoughtful and loving Mother-in-Law. Now it’s one of my favorite parts of receiving a gift. I love showing my gratitude for the thought that someone displays. It’s now a staple in our house and the girls are involved in writing their own thank you notes.
The complete acceptance of someone and unwavering support and fun from my sister. We have been lucky enough to have kids similar in age to laugh and figure this whole thing out together through humor. We know no matter what, we’ll always be there for a good laugh, cry or shout.
Empathy. I have a friend who is so caring and always reminds me of the “other side of the story”. It’s a nice reminder. Not everything is as it seems, to you.
Getting some me time and getting my needs met and not feeling a bit guilty about it! Boy was I glad I learned this one. Girls night anyone?
Keeping cool. I’m not good at this one. Typically, you know exactly what I’m thinking because it’s out of my mouth before I can fine tune the words. To the friends that are thoughtful, calm and cool, those- that have endless patience, I look to you for learning this skill and I admire you!
Then I have the friends who are brutally honest about their days. The friends who aren’t afraid to say, today was hard and my kid was an A-hole. I LOVE YOU!! Thank you. It’s not always easy and you don’t always have to love everything about being a mom all the time and sometimes our kids are jerks. There I said it. Whew. I love those friends. The non-judgey, non perfect, people in my pack.
I am grateful and happy to be celebrating Mother’s Day along with some of the most incredible women alive.
I’d also like to say thank you to my favorite mother lover, my husband, for working so hard for all of his girls. Without you, obviously, none of this would be possible. I love you.
And last but not least, thank you to my Maisy and Maren for making me the Mom I always wanted to be. Your smiles, kisses, hugs, happiness and love are what it’s all about. I’m lucky to be your Mama.
