Teach Thoughtfulness Through Daily Gratitude Notes This Month: It may lead to happiness

Practice Writing and Thoughtfulness Through Daily #Gratitude Notes

With Thanksgiving approaching we are thinking a lot around here about what and who we are thankful and appreciative for.  I came up with the idea for the girls to each pick someone they are thankful for each day to send a nice appreciation to.  It can be a simple picture, a note or a post card.  Really, whatever inspires them and helps them to express themselves and their thoughts.  We started out with preprinted postcards created just for this purpose, but it seemed those were too rigid, so we moved on to other mediums.  We may even end up sending little text videos as the month moves on. I love that this gets the girls extra practice in writing, expressing their feelings of gratitude and being creative all at the same time.

Maisy's dictated note to her teacher.  She asked that I did it in cursive so she could write her name in cursive as well.  Too bad I have horrible penmanship!

I've seen many articles recently about the correlation between showing gratitude and a person's happiness. Yes, the more you express gratitude, research shows, the happier you are.  I hope all of these gratitude activities we do now keeps the warmth in our girls' hearts and gives them a strong base for recognizing what they have, securing of feelings of thankfulness for where they are.

I'm a part-time work from home, full time stay at home mom to two daughters and an Australian Labradoodle puppy. We are enjoying our last year before big girl school, playing with friends, swapping childcare to get the job done and getting crafty when we can fit it in. We live together in a wonderful community that we are truly thankful for and proud to be a part of. It takes a village and this is ours.
