Bloom Retreat: Care for yourself, while they care for your kids

Bloom Retreat, Walnut Creek, CA. Care for yourself while they care for your kids.

A spa, a yoga studio and a work space with very affordable child care.  Why did I NOT know about Bloom Retreat in Walnut Creek before now!?  This is why I HAD to write this post.  This post was in no way sponsored.  I just wanted to get the good word out that there is wonderfulness just 20 minutes away from Berkeley.

I had this illusion that after my oldest was in Kindergarten & my youngest was in preschool three mornings a week that I would have all of this free time on my hands.  In my mind I thought about how I’d, shop in peace, work from home, get a pedicure now and again and clean the house without it being immediately wrecked.  Not much of this has happened.  It has been filled up with neglected doctors appointments, volunteering at the elementary school, taking on fundraising PTA projects & all the “me” time has crash & burned.  I hope to soon find balance & I hope this was a start.

Bloom Retreat is a cozy & inviting space that offers a little break from being Mommy.  I love that they offer a variety of services for the whole family from, massage, skin care/waxing, classes (yoga, music, baby sign language) & community support groups. Bloom even rents out work space, so you can work from “home” while your child plays & you sip tea in a closed office. They have per service fees, class series fees & also discounted rates if you become a member.  The annual family membership rate (good for the entire household) is only $139.  You can book services online too to save the trouble of calling.

In addition to sitting areas to wait, sip tea or catch up with your girls, they also have a few small shop items.

Maren & I went over & checked it out today.  After my 4 mile run this morning, by body was begging for a massage and that’s exactly what it got. My calves are still thanking me. Kara was fantastic.  I felt my body slowly start to melt into itself as my treatment was taking place.  I was in a lovely bubble of calm and peace.  My only regret was not going for the hour massage instead of the always too short 30 minutes.

Before I retrieved Maren from the childcare room, I relaxed for a bit and drank my water & tea. Then I went in to find Maren happily playing with the toys and the other kids.  As we were leaving Maren gave a hearty goodbye to all her new friends and asked, “Can we come back here again?” I’m pretty sure the answer to that is YES!  With childcare only $5/half hour and $4 if you are a member, it’s a fantastic deal. Child care is provided for kids crawling up to 6 years old.

Are there other gems like this out there? Now I really want someone to create a nice restaurant with this feature. Affordable childcare, great local food and a totally separate area for your kids to have dinner and play. Come on, someone do this please!

Be sure to subscribe via email, follow on Facebook & on Pinterest so you don’t miss out on any of our adventures. As always, thanks for reading.

I'm a part-time work from home, full time stay at home mom to two daughters and an Australian Labradoodle puppy. We are enjoying our last year before big girl school, playing with friends, swapping childcare to get the job done and getting crafty when we can fit it in. We live together in a wonderful community that we are truly thankful for and proud to be a part of. It takes a village and this is ours.
